Quarzite is a kind of metamorphic rock composed mostly of quartz. It derives from the erosion and successive metamorphosis of clastic rocks. The less colourful, most transparent and vitreous varieties are made up almost exclusively of quartz. Other associated minerals include nickel, potassium feldspar, plagioclases, carbonates, etc.
Aside from being used in the glass and ceramic industries, quartzite is also used for floors and coatings.
